Haggai 2:10-19
Haggai 2:10–19 comes at a significant turning point: the foundation of the Lord’s temple is being laid, and God uses this moment to expose the deeper problem among His people. Through questions to the priests, Haggai shows that holiness is not transferred easily, but defilement spreads quickly; therefore, the people’s sin has made even their work and offerings unclean before God. Their failed harvests were not random hardship but covenant discipline meant to turn them back to the Lord, yet they had not returned to Him. Still, God graciously announces a new beginning: before visible fruit appears, He promises, “From this day on I will bless you,” pointing ultimately to the greater cleansing and blessing that comes through Christ. Summary from Moyter, Boda, & Duguid.
