Psalm 8

May 31, 2026    Paul Laso

Psalm 8 invites us into a profound moment of wonder where we lift our eyes from the endless demands of daily life to gaze upon the glory of God. This ancient hymn captures David's overwhelming sense of awe as he looks at the vastness of creation—the moon, the stars, the expanse of the heavens—and then asks the question that should stop us in our tracks: What is man that You are mindful of him? The central idea here is both humbling and exhilarating: the God whose glory fills the universe and whose name is majestic over all the earth chooses to care deeply about us. We are not cosmic accidents or insignificant specks in an indifferent universe. Rather, we are fearfully and wonderfully made, crowned with dignity and honor, entrusted with stewardship over creation itself. This psalm reminds us that true worship begins when we recognize both God's transcendent majesty and His intimate nearness.
